Nothing to See Here, Just Another Democrat Politician Being Indicted
The grand jury charged Cantrell with conspiracy, wire fraud, conspiracy to obstruct justice, false statements, obstruction of justice, and lying to investigators. At the center is her alleged affair with former bodyguard Jeffrey Vappie, also indicted on expanded counts.

Democrat Mayor LaToya Cantrell faces an 18-count federal indictment stemming from a corruption probe, highlighting yet another case of abuse of power in Democrat leadership.
The grand jury charged Cantrell with conspiracy, wire fraud, conspiracy to obstruct justice, false statements, obstruction of justice, and lying to investigators. At the center is her alleged affair with former bodyguard Jeffrey Vappie, also indicted on expanded counts.
Prosecutors allege Vappie falsified timesheets to bill the city for hours spent with Cantrell at a luxury Pontalba apartment, on official trips, and at personal events. They further accuse the pair of deleting records to conceal their relationship and Cantrell's undue influence in the NOPD to shield him from scrutiny. Vappie resigned amid the investigation.
The 48-page indictment details a scheme dating back years, building on a 2024 probe that charged a city building inspector with bribing Cantrell using Saints tickets. Additional scrutiny arose from her lavish travel—upgrading to business class with public funds—and spending nearly $200,000 in campaign cash on image consulting, including $72,000 to firms for clothing and events.
Cantrell denies all wrongdoing, claiming the charges stem from biased scrutiny as New Orleans' first Black female mayor. "Accusation after accusation," she said in 2024. Her term ends January 2026.
This indictment fits a disturbing pattern of corruption plaguing the Democrat Party, where leaders exploit positions for personal gain while evading accountability.
Former Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ) was convicted in July 2024 and sentenced to 11 years in January 2025 for bribery, accepting gold bars and cash as a foreign agent.
Congressman Henry Cuellar (D-TX) and his wife were indicted in May 2024 for a $600,000 bribery scheme; the case advances despite pleas.
Illinois Democrat powerhouse Michael Madigan, ex-Speaker, received 7.5 years in June 2025 for racketeering and bribery after a federal probe exposed years of graft.
St. Louis County Executive Sam Page (D-MO) faces July 2025 felony indictments for misusing public funds in a kickback scandal.
And just this week, Los Angeles City Councilmember Curren Price was charged with two additional public corruption counts on August 12, 2025, on top of prior 2023 charges of embezzlement, perjury, and conflict of interest. Prosecutors allege Price's wife received over $800,000 from the city's housing authority and LA Metro while he voted on multimillion-dollar contracts for those agencies.
These cases reveal systemic rot, demanding reforms to restore trust in government.
