Florida Cabinet Unanimously Approves Land for Trump Presidential Library in Miami
The library, spanning an estimated 90,000 square feet, will include interactive displays on the Abraham Accords, border security reforms, and economic policies, alongside archives of over 1 million documents from both terms.

The Florida Cabinet unanimously voted Tuesday to convey a 2.63-acre parcel of state-owned land in downtown Miami to the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library Foundation, clearing the way for the nation's first library dedicated to the 45th and 47th president. The site, currently a parking lot for Miami Dade College adjacent to the historic Freedom Tower—a former immigration processing center for 300,000+ Cuban refugees in the 1960s—will host exhibits chronicling President Trump's political career, policy achievements, and impact on American history.
Gov. Ron DeSantis, leading the Cabinet, described the decision as a fitting tribute in Florida, the state that delivered President Trump's largest 2024 electoral margin. "Having the Trump Presidential Library in Miami will be good for Florida, for the city, and for Miami Dade College," DeSantis stated. "No state has supported the president's agenda more than the Free State of Florida, and I was proud to spearhead the effort to house this historic library right here in his home state."
Attorney General James Uthmeier called the facility "a patriotic showcase for generations to come," while Chief Financial Officer Billy Grant noted it would "enshrine Florida as Trump Country," boosting tourism and local economy. The land transfer, valued at $20 million, requires no payment from the foundation, per state records, with construction timelines targeting completion by 2029.
Eric Trump, executive vice president of the Trump Organization and foundation board member, announced the approval on social media: "I am extremely proud to announce a UNANIMOUS vote by the Florida Cabinet for the conveyance of land for the @realDonaldTrump Presidential Library which will be located in… MIAMI, FLORIDA! It will be the greatest Presidential Library ever built, honoring the greatest President our Nation has ever known." He credited DeSantis and Uthmeier as "incredible partners" and contrasted the design with former President Barack Obama's Chicago library, which he described as a "prison-like structure."
The library, spanning an estimated 90,000 square feet, will include interactive displays on the Abraham Accords, border security reforms, and economic policies, alongside archives of over 1 million documents from both terms. Miami Dade College, retaining operational ties, anticipates 500,000 annual visitors, generating $50 million in economic activity through events and partnerships.
This approval follows settlements funding the project: Meta Platforms paid $25 million in January 2025, YouTube $24.5 million in September, and others totaling $75 million redirected to library initiatives. The Miami site, selected over Palm Beach proposals, aligns with President Trump's South Florida residency and positions the library as a gateway to Latin American diplomatic outreach.
